Through the Wetlands Reserve Enhancement Program (WREP), Wildlife Mississippi is pleased to provide you with a downloadable version of the Wetland Management for Waterfowl Handbook. We sincerely believe that you will find this guide to be a useful source of information in the management of your property for waterfowl and other wetland-dependent wildlife.

This handbook, however, represents only a portion of our work within the WREP. As a conservation partner working alongside the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Wildlife Mississippi can offer several additional tools to Wetlands Reserve Program (WRP) landowners who seek to better manage their wildlife habitat resources. We can provide assistance in the management of moist-soil areas for waterfowl and food plots for upland wildlife. We can develop a comprehensive management plan tailored to the goals that a landowner may have for their WRP property. Outreach programs such as newsletters, electronic updates and workshops on various management topics conducted at selected demonstration areas are also available. Additionally, we can provide guidance to landowners who would like to see their properties protected for the future, through the use of conservation easements.

We are currently conducting site visits to establish baseline information on all WRP easements in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Aside from this one requirement, landowner participation in the WREP is strictly voluntary with no compulsory fees, obligations or restrictions.
