Winter 2003
President's Message
Your
membership in Wildlife Mississippi demonstrates a strong commitment
toward the future of fish and wildlife conservation in Mississippi.
While this is an important first step, your involvement and input should
not end there.
We want to reward you by offering you a job. It's not a full time job, you understand.
It's not even a paying job. We are asking each member to enroll another member
in Wildlife Mississippi. If everyone signs up another member, we will double
our membership, from 1,500 to 3,000.
With additional members, the Foundation will enhance programs that will develop
more habitat for fish and wildlife, educate more young people about the importance
of conservation and improve access to those resources we all enjoy.
It is important to Mississippi's future that our children and grandchildren can
enjoy the majesty of our state's forests, waters and wildlife. If we don't protect
these treasures, our future quality of life will suffer. Because we have to compete
with other states and other countries in order to attract industry to Mississippi,
we have to factor quality of life in the equation. More and more quality of life
involves the outdoors and country-style living. Everything we do at Wildlife
Mississippi fits that description and our projects help Mississippi grow in a
variety of ways.
We know our economy is slow, but we must work together to conserve the irreplaceable
natural resources of our beautiful Mississippi. If we don't, we'll have fewer
bass, ducks, deer, turkey and backyard wildlife. And these are what makes Mississippi
a great place to live - fantastic hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.
I'm proud of what Wildlife Mississippi is doing. With additional members we can
do more. Wildlife Mississippi needs your help. Please ask one to two of your
friends to join Wildlife Mississippi by making a tax-deductible contribution
to the Foundation. You can give them a copy of this magazine, or for a membership
brochure and information, go to our web site at www.wildlifemiss.org, call us
at (662) 686-3375 or write us at P.O. 10, Stoneville, MS 38776.
Remember, home-based conservation organizations like the Mississippi Fish and
Wildlife Foundation are doing the most effective job for conservation, thanks
to you.
