Wildlife Mississippi Magazine

Spring/Summer 2001

President's Message

Lelia Clark WynnThe Wildlife Mississippi story keeps getting better. Each year we add a new chapter to the epic that has been three years in the making. In Congress, our organization is being touted as the blueprint for an effective statewide conservation program. Our story has been told from California to Montana to Florida. We have become a benchmark for 24 other organizations in as many states that are taking this same responsible approach to conservation with our guidance and leadership.

Wildlife Mississippi's stockholders are its 1,200 members in the 82 Mississippi counties. Your organization's success is not to be measured by numbers of members, size of staff, budget or an impressive office building. Our success will be measured by Mississippians conserving our abundant natural resources. We are a unique group devoted to preserving, restoring and enhancing fish, wildlife and plant habitat, particularly on private land. We want to make sure Wildlife Mississippi is doing the job we set out to do.

In joining this organization, you have made a strong commitment toward the conservation of fish, wildlife and plants throughout Mississippi. While this is an important first step, your involvement and input should not end there. We must have a strong membership from every county in Mississippi to assure that Wildlife Mississippi remains a grass roots organization that will continue to be responsive to its members.

With your renewed support, your organization will continue to work for programs that improve the quality of life in Mississippi and the value of our land. You will witness this commitment each time you see, read or listen to another story about the conservation efforts of Wildlife Mississippi. Our success lies in the strength of your organization's story and the people who have helped create it, members like you. So ask a friend to join us in informing others.

Remember, state conservation organizations like Wildlife Mississippi are doing the most effective job for conservation.
