Fall/Winter 2000

President's Message

Peyton SelfAs President of the Mississippi Fish and Wildlife Foundation and its three year anniversary, it would seem appropriate for me to give you a report of the Foundation's service to Mississippi.

It is important for any Foundation, from time to time, to clarify and affirm its mission and the relationship of its program of work to that mission. I want to say that Wildlife Mississippi continues to be the steward it should and with a foremost interest of improving the quality of life throughout Mississippi.

Our mission is accomplished by restoring and enhancing the state's fish, wildlife and plant resources. We have approached this challenge from the standpoint of economics, image and stewardship; and by involving all parties with specific projects and goals.

As you will see in the progress report on page 9, we will remain lean and local...all dollars stay here...all activities and resources will be directed to the 82 counties of Mississippi. As you read the report you will see how your financial resources were spent.

The other Trustees and staff join me in thanking the entire membership for a commitment to an organization that is not only making things happen literally in our own backyards, but is known all over this great nation for doing so.
